Stressful thinking and how it affects you

by Richard Butler on October 29, 2009

There’s no getting away from it. Stress is all about every minute of the day we can encounter stress. However its how we deal with it that counts. When we think when we are stressed we often don’t make the right decisions or don’t see situations clearly. We then make choices that will may make us more stressed.  More often than not people think that’s just the way it is I have to think on my feet, however this will not always get us to our desired outcome.

In order to think without stress we need to stop being in a stressful state of mind.  Although this may sound difficult it is not that difficult.  Making decisions while we are stressed can lead to negative thinking as we may make incorrect decisions which will lead us in a vicious circle.

Stressful/Negative Thinking, Positive Thoughts, and You

Stressful thinking does a number of things. It can control the way you approach everything you do in life, however it also has a negative effect on your body, mind, and relationships. So you see stressful thinking is “holistic” in a very bad way – it affects all of your body. If you continue with the negative and stressful thoughts you will not be able to move forward.  As the name of this site suggests you must change how you think.

The Power of Affirmations

As you may know an affirmation is a positive sentence or phrase that you use. For many affirmations are simply words on a page that mean nothing. However looking more closely you will see that affirmations are actually a way of changing how you think and becoming more positive.

Find or write out a positive phrase or affirmation and apply it to a negative situations. For example rather than thinking there’s no way I can accomplish this, reprogram your mind to think Let me give this a go and see what happens, I can only learn from every experience.

But how powerful are words? “I had a dream” four words that evoke more emotion that you can believe.  Words are powerful. The meanings and thoughts we put into them are so important.

Chose the words you use carefully as they can affect your thinking and life.

Find a positive affirmation and repeat it to yourself, believe it, immerse yourself in it and let it push the negative thoughts from your mind. If they don’t work there’s no harm done, if they do work, you’re going to see some awesome changes happening.

Remember the words and language we use can affect us greatly. In order to become more positive you must have more positive thoughts and use more positive language.

By using negative language and thought patterns you will become more stressed and more anxious which will cause you more and more problems – it becomes a vicious circle.

It sounds to good to be true right? So many people believe that this technique will be ineffective so they don’t even try using it. The only way to find out is to try. You have nothing to lose and no one will know you are trying it, so go on give it a go and let me know how you get on!
